Our troubles today are nothing new. Immorality, greed, violence, discord and the rest of it are a result of the sin nature of mankind and will be wrestled with until Jesus comes again. In the meantime, let’s take a page from the Psalms and use it to pray our desire for our nation’s renewal to faith. For me this prayer is completely up-to-date and speaks perfectly to the desires of my heart — how about yours?

In this time of uncertainty in world events we have great concern for our military personnel around the world, especially with the conflicts in the Middle East. War is almost as old as mankind and has been written about throughout the ages. Asking God for protection was something that David felt the need for during much of his life, and from his conflicts came many prayers about the hazards of military action. Psalm 3 is one of those and serves well as a kind of assurance in these dangerous times. |
